Work//3D printed buttons
1/2/3/4/5
Spirograph, we all remember this fun drawing game. Leoni and Femke wanted to combine these fascinating figures with modern technology. They created a unique design and converted this into a G-coded 3D model. The design is printed in layers including every remarkable detail.
The buttons are made of PLA (Polylactic Acid): a thermoplastic aliphatic polymer derived from renewable resources such as cornstarch or sugarcane, which can biodegrade under certain conditions. The filament (made of polymers) is molten, pressed in a 0.36mm wire and printed into the object layer upon layer. This technique is called fused deposition modeling (FDM).
